Understand Your Monthly Cycle

Every month, hormonal changes prepares your body, supports your health, and keeps everything running as it should. While an average cycle is 28 days, it can range between 21 and 35 days — and that variation is completely normal.

Understanding your cycle is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself. When you know what is happening inside your body and why, you stop being surprised by it — and you start working with it instead of against it.

Phase 1: Follicular Phase (Days 1–14)

This phase begins on the very first day of your period. As your body sheds the uterine lining, hormone levels gradually begin to rise again. The uterine lining starts rebuilding, and your body slowly prepares for the next cycle. Energy levels tend to be lower at the start of this phase.

Phase 2: Ovulation Phase (Mid-Cycle)

Ovulation is the peak moment of your cycle — when your ovary releases an egg, and your body is at its most fertile. This typically happens around the middle of your cycle. Some women notice a slight twinge of discomfort or light spotting around this time, which is entirely normal. Many also experience a natural surge in energy and mood during ovulation.

Phase 3: Luteal Phase (Days 15–28)

After ovulation, the body prepares for a possible pregnancy. If pregnancy does not occur, hormone levels gradually drop, and your body begins to prepare for the next period. This is when PMS symptoms — bloating, fatigue, mood shifts — can make themselves known. Your body is not being difficult. It is doing exactly what it is designed to do.
